The MIYC Invitational Regatta

The MIYC Invitational Regatta is held each August on either the third or fourth Saturday. Registration usually opens 60 days before the date of the regatta. The regatta is open to Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker boats with valid PHRF or ORC certificates. Time-on-time handicapping will be used. One-design classes with four or more entries will be started as separate classes.

Courses will be selected to suit the prevailing conditions. The Race Committee will endeavor to post a Windward-Leeward course for Spinnaker and One-design classes and reserves the right to run two races. Non-Spinnaker will sail a course consisting of government and/or set marks.

MIYC Junior Regattas

Each year MIYC holds one or two invitational junior sailing regattas, usually sailed in Optimists or 420s, where all Junior racers from neighboring sailing clubs are invited to register to attend. The schedule of the Junior regattas for each season is coordinated by the Eastern Connecticut Sailing Association (ECSA), the 2025 ECSA calendar is available here.

The 2025 MIYC Opti Regatta will be held on Tuesday July 29th.  All junior Opti sailors from ECSA clubs are invited to participate.

On August 11th and 12th 2025, Masons Island Yacht Club and Wadawanuck Yacht Club will jointly host a two-day long distance race.  All junior sailors between the ages of 13 to 19 from neighboring yacht clubs are invited to participate.  The series of races over two days will be held in 420s.  All registered skippers and crew are also invited to an overnight sleep-over at Masons Island Yacht Club.  Dinner and entertainment will be provided.
